JKSS is the specially made cement which has great advantage of early as well as later strength. The strength parameters at all ages are almost 15- 20% higher compare to normal cements.
JKSS is surpassing strength parameters of OPC 53 G & additionally having sufficient dosage of reactive silica, it offers the strength gain beyond 28 days, in nut shell, this is ideal cement to meet early strength requirement as well as 28days. The concrete produced with the help of JKSS will be High Performance cement.
Technically, JKSS is All Application- All Purpose cement which fulfils requirements of Fresh Concrete as well as Hardened Concrete.
Similar is the case with mortar application. One can use JKSS for internal & external plastering to have strong plaster. The masonry built in right proportion with JKSS will be also stronger.
We don’t require to take any special precaution while using JKSS. However, it’s always better to follow right concrete practices so as to avail maximum benefits of strength & durability property from JKSS. Say for an example….
JKSS gives high early strength at 1-day compare to other PPC, because of controlled dosage of high reactive silica along with higher fineness. To get the maximum advantage of JKSS, it is desirable to start light sprinkling on concrete after 6-8 hours or covering the concrete with jute cloth so that fresh concrete remains moist & hydration of cement is done in favourable conditions.
JKSS is all application cement, so one can use it for flooring also. However, always remember that one needs to follow right construction practice & guidelines prior to use.
Water – Cement ratio is not directly related to Type of cement. It is depending on concrete grade, workability requirement, exposure conditions, & weather conditions. Hence simple answer is water requirement in JKSS would be similar to any other cements.
JKSS is the cement with high strength at 1 day, hence to get the maximum benefits of JKSS, one should start curing immediately, once the concrete or plaster is set properly. Light sprinkling on slab or plaster will enhance early reaction of JKSS with other ingredients & bonding would be stronger. It’s observed that, if curing is started after 6-8 hours, the concrete will give you extra strength of almost 15-20%.
Technically yes only if you do design mix concrete. Higher the grade of Concrete, more will be Saving in Cement contents.
But for volumetric proportioning, saving in cement content is not recommended. It’s always good to have stronger slab rather saving few bags of cement. Because slab is most important element in structure, where strength must not be compromised.
Shelf life of cement depends on storage condition. Better the storage facility, longer will be shelf life. Customer must ensure store cement in dry place in a room. JKSS shelf-life is almost similar like other cements.
The early removal of formwork is solely depending on concrete strength gain at specified period. So if concrete gains more than 67% strength, one can remove shuttering as per guidelines mentioned in IS 456 (Clause No. 11.3.1).
Since JKSS has early high strength gain property, it is possible to attain desired strength in concrete in shorter time span & subsequently, one can remove shuttering faster compare to normal cement.
The compatibility test should be carried out prior to selection of any admixture. Generally, JKSS is compatible with all the leading brands of Admixtures.

LPP packing is more environment friendly which ensure protection against moisture penetration in the bag. Hence cement packed in LPP would have better shelf life compared to HDPE packing.
Further, LPP packing is Pilfer-Proof, hence cement doesn’t pilfer during transit.
However, LPP packing has to be handled carefully & one should never apply hooks while in transit, otherwise it can burst out & cement packed with in is wasted.
